Dr. Geci-Black received his medical degree (MD) at the Medical College of Georgia and finished an Emergency Medicine residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He has practiced medicine since 1993 and has earned board certification in both Emergency Medicine and Holistic Medicine.
As a board-certified, residency trained emergency medicine physician, Dr. Geci-Black became frustrated with practicing community-based emergency medicine. After ten years of practice, he found that most of the patients he was treating weren’t the emergencies that he had trained to treat in his residency, but rather, the acute exacerbations of chronic diseases.
Dr. Geci-Black said, "Now, one of my toughest question patients often ask me is, ‘why doesn’t my doctor know about this?’ My best answer is that most doctors are very busy and barely have the time to keep up with their own specialty, let alone crossing over and looking at what’s happening in other areas of medicine."
